Basilia Montesanto LMT Quaker Hill CT

Basilia Montesanto is a CT Licensed Massage Therapist, who has been in practice since she graduated from Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy in Groton, in 2009. After graduation, she has furthered her knowledge and skill by completing several professional, massage therapy training courses.

Oncology Massage Therapy: Caring for Clients with Cancer, by the researcher and writer Tracy Walton, is a professional course completed by Basilia in 2011. Basilia fully believes in the benefits that massage therapy can offer this specific group of people, from reducing anxiety/depression, enhancing body image to reducing pain/suffering just to name a few. She has the training to offer therapeutic massage during the diagnostic process, while in cancer treatment, for survivors and for people who are living at the end of life. She also has the training to adapt the session to specific medication and current/past medical conditions.

Basilia also completed Pregnancy Massage: Advance Technique and Training offered by Connecticut’s AMTA Chapter in 2011 and Mother Massage®: Massage During Pregnancy in 2013, which was taught by one of the earliest pioneers of prenatal massage and developer of the Mother Massage® professional course, Elaine Stillerman.

With the knowledge gained from these two courses, Basilia knows when it is appropriate for an expecting mother to receive massage therapy and how to safely adapt her touch to address physiological/emotional changes throughout all three trimester and also after labor.

Hot Stone Massage, Rain Drop Technique, Athletic Massage and Traditional Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage are other massage modalities Basilia has been trained in and offers at The Healing Space.

Her favorite style of massage therapy is a gentle, nurturing approach. She loves to incorporate heated stones, cool stones, essential oils, heat packs and/or certain combination of sounds and music when applicable in a session, to help get her clients settled into a safe place so their mind, body and spirit can heal.

When not practicing massage, Basilia love to express her creativeness by playing the guitar, drawing, sculpturing and painting. Daily meditation is a routine she incorporated to help keep her centered and grounded. And spending time with her friends, family and her cat Bobo is something she values and tries to make time for daily, as well.
